Baby Mya

Monday, August 30, 2010

This darling little babe is almost 5 months old and just about able to sit up on her own.  Of course we had mama sitting close by to give her some support when she was feeling a little top heavy :)  Our session was short and sweet at only 30 minutes long as Mya's nap time crept up on us quicker than expected.
This session was won by Mya's mom & dad through a draw at the Comox Valley Midwifery during a event celebrating the International Day of the Midwife.  Check out their website here!

Little Baby Sydney

| |

I was excited to photograph a little baby girl, as recently I have been spending the majority of my time with baby boys!  When mama phoned me, Sydney was 9 days old - I love to photograph babies within the first 2 weeks, so we scheduled our session for Sydney's 11th day out in the world!  She was the smallest baby I have ever photographed at just about 5 pounds.
I like to try and incorporate items that have some meaning to the family in newborn photo sessions.  In this case we used a rocking chair that Sydney's mama was rocked in as a baby and some hydrangeas from her Grandma's garden (also mama's favorite flowers).
Sydney was a perfect little lady during our session and I was so happy that I was given the opportunity to photograph her!

Adventurous Mama

I knew when I first laid eyes on this beautiful location that it would take a special person to hike the 30 minutes uphill to get there!  I definitely imagined photographing a pregnant woman there as well...  I thought I was kidding myself in thinking I could actually get an expectant lady to walk up there as well as climb around on the rather treacherous terrain.  Then along came Jaclyn.  At 7 months pregnant, she was totally up for it and possesses the beauty to match her surroundings!

Congratulations to Jaclyn and Eric on the upcoming birth of your baby!!!

Thanks to my friend, Teneille from firefly for opening my eyes to yet another gorgeous spot here in the Comox Valley!

Camryn & Emersyn

Monday, August 23, 2010

Over the weekend I travelled up to the North Island to visit family and had the opportunity to book a session with two lovely red headed sisters!  The session took place at beautiful Telegraph Cove.  Our session was cut a teeny tiny bit short due to a minor injury to 3 year old, Emersyn's little foot!  I hope that the ice cream she was promised at the end of the shoot made up for all of her hard work and pain :)

Thanks Camryn and Emersyn!!! You were both fabulous little models!

McDougall Wedding

Thursday, August 19, 2010

One of the few days in the past couple of months that rain was actually in the forecast - the ceremony, photos and reception were all scheduled to take place outdoors.  Lucky for us, the weather forecast was wrong!  Just before the ceremony began the sun broke through the clouds and it was perfect!

After the ceremony, the wedding party and myself headed to the Forgotten Forest to do some photos.  It was a fun and unique backdrop for a couple who possesses those very same qualities:)

Many congratulations to Chris and Chantal and thanks so much for having me there on your wedding day!

Sweet Baby Grady

Sunday, August 15, 2010

Grady was only 5 days old at the time of our session and still a pretty sleepy boy.  The sleepiness lent itself to getting him into lots of fun poses!  Grady's mama was extremely patient and it paid off as we were able to capture numerous different shots and ideas.  I love the first image - Grady is wrapped in his Daddy's sweater and surrounded by his tools and boots.  How cute is he with that little wrench in his hand?!

Grady is a total doll and he was a pleasure to photograph.  Congratulations to the whole Taylor family (including his two big sisters)!

Also, check out mama's beautiful belly photos here if you missed them the first time!

The Future Mr & Mrs Goldspun!

Friday, August 13, 2010

Lovebirds, Shawna & Craig, opted to do an engagement photo shoot to memorialize their unwedded bliss before they tie the knot (hopefully next year)!
Shawna is the owner of Goldspun Photography here in the Comox Valley.  She is also a talented hair and makeup artist and did a great job of dolling herself up for our shoot!
I must admit, I was a little nervous to do this shoot.  I had never done an engagement session before and I wanted everything to be perfect.  I had scoped out the locations the night before our shoot and the lighting was absolutely perfect!  However, when we arrived the following evening (slightly later), we were literally chasing the sun up Mount Washington.  Everytime we stopped and got out of the car, the sun was just disappearing behind a peak.  We did what we could and decided to make a second attempt the next night.  Funnily enough - I ended up liking a lot of the images from the first night better :)  Hahaha!!!

Anyways Shawna, I hope these images bear some resemblance to what you had envisioned for your engagement photos :)
